The former US Special Representative for Ukraine in an interview with The Kyiv Independent noted that Donald Trump may call the Kremlin dictator after his re-election to quickly conclude an agreement to end the war, NBN reports.
According to him, the Republican will tell Putin that the fighting in Ukraine must stop and peace must be established. Volker believes that these telephone conversations will mark the beginning of a discussion on how to actually end the war.
The diplomat is convinced that during the negotiations with the 47th US President, the head of the Kremlin will put forward a number of demands. At the same time, the Republican will not agree to make concessions to Moscow, so it will not be easy for him to conclude a deal with the Russian Federation, faced with a cunning and insidious Russian leader.
The former US Special Representative for Ukraine noted that Putin is not interested in a deal, his interest is in seizing a neighboring state. Given this, Trump will have to convince the dictator that his aggressive plans will harm Russia and will cost it too much.
Earlier, the media reported that the newly elected US President has several options for “peace plans” for Ukraine.
