The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with one of the Russian media outlets, spoke about Trump's promise to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. Putin's diplomat said that these words of the newly elected US president do not deserve attention.
This was reported by the NBN publication with reference to the Interfax propaganda agency.
According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the promises to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine within 24 hours and stop hostilities on the contact line are “Minsk agreements in a new package and even worse.” Lavrov complained that under any government, the US will weaken Russia, its influence, and suppress it as a competitor.
The minister said that Moscow will “judge the Trump administration on specific cases.” At the same time, the head of the Russian diplomatic department believes that the White House's fundamental attitude toward Ukraine and Europe will not change.
It should be noted that, as the Politexpert publication writes, the Republican Party retains control over the US House of Representatives, strengthening Trump's position.
Earlier, political analyst Vitaly Portnikov assessed the possibility of the newly elected American president ending the Russian-Ukrainian war in January.
