As NBN reports with reference to CNEWS material, according to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, the Kremlin's new nuclear threats are the usual rhetoric broadcast by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin over the past 2.5 years.

According to Barrot, the revision of the Russian Federation's “nuclear doctrine” did not come as a surprise to EU member states, since such an update to the approach to the use of nuclear weapons was announced in advance by the Kremlin.

The head of the French Foreign Ministry added: President Emmanuel Macron emphasized not long ago that it is necessary to return Russia to responsibility before the world as a nuclear country, primarily because the terrorist state remains a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

In addition, Paris supports Ukraine's long-range strikes on Russian territory:

This is self-defense [of Ukraine]. The principle of self-defense is enshrined in international law.
