The day before, on November 22, Kremlin tyrant Vladimir Putin called the “test” strike of the Oreshnik ballistic missile on the Dnieper a “successful” response to “those who are trying to blackmail” the Russian Federation.

As reported by NBN, citing the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Putin and the Russian military elite are praising the above-described attack on Ukraine, seeking to advance a disinformation campaign aimed at demonstratively exaggerating the potential of the aggressor country, intending to simultaneously put pressure on Western states and Kyiv.
Based on Putin's words, the Oreshnik, allegedly created on the basis of innovative technologies and not being a modification of Soviet missiles, is prepared for serial production, and, according to the commander of the Russian Missile Forces, Colonel General Sergei Karakayev, this munition is capable of hitting targets throughout Europe and has no “world analogues”.
However, Western and domestic military experts are confident that the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic munition is not a fundamentally new weapon, since it was created on the basis of the RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental missile. At the same time, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense believes that “Oreshnik” is the codified name of the Kedr missile project (a modernized Yars intercontinental missile), which has been in development since 2018.
ISW summarized:
The Russian Federation is benefiting from the loud statements about the November 21 strike and is likely hoping that increased concern over the launch of the Oreshnik missile will prompt the West to reduce its support for Ukraine.
