The Ukrainian leader on his page on the social network X (former Twitter) welcomed the approval by the European Parliament of the new composition of the European Commission headed by Ursula von der Leyen, the NBN publication reports.
Head of State wished the European Commissioners success in strengthening the united European states and enhancing the role of the EU as a global leader. The President expects continued cooperation on key issues of our country's integration into the European Union.
The guarantor expressed confidence that during the work of the new EC composition, our country will achieve a strategic goal – become part of the EU.
The mandate of the European Commission under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen, who took office for the second time as president, will last 5 years. Zelensky believes that it is during this period that Ukraine will gain membership in the European Union.
It should be noted that our country also wants to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in an interview with a Western media outlet that if Ukraine had started its path to the Alliance in 2008, this would have provoked the head of the Kremlin to launch an invasion earlier.
