Ukrainian media have repeatedly published materials about the preparation of Budanov's dismissal from the post of head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense on Bankova. Journalists claimed that the general's resignation was being lobbied by the head of the OPU, Andriy Yermak, and the deputy head of the SBU, Oleksandr Poklad.
Unnamed sources of the publications said that a number of statements by the military leader could allegedly harm the country, NBN reports.
In a commentary to the BBC, Ukraine's chief intelligence officer called reports of his resignation “another hoax.” Budanov noted that at some point these rumors spread in our information space, and they were also picked up by Russian propaganda.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense believes that the materials about the alleged preparations for his dismissal at Bankova are aimed at destabilizing Ukraine and its leadership. Speaking about relations with Zelensky's Office, the general described them as “ordinary working ones.” The military leader added that he reports to the head of state on the situation every day.
Recall that in October, during a meeting with media representatives, Zelensky commented on rumors about his intention to fire Budanov and the head of the Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov.
