Ukrainians who work on the purity of their speech should know the correct names for types of meat. Very often many people do not know how to translate the word “beef”, informs the publication “NBN”.

In the Ukrainian language, the meat of cattle (cows, bulls) is called “yalovychyna” or “volovyna“, the meat of a heifer or a calf is “veal“, the meat of a ram or sheep is “lamb“, “yagnyatina“, and the meat of a goat is “kozina“.

The correct name for poultry meat is: chicken meat – “kuryatina“, turkey meat – “indichatina“, and duck meat – «качатина».

Also in the Ukrainian language there are interesting synonyms for the Ukrainian word «сало»: сламець, шпик, солонина, лій, ік, сит, тук and товщ. It is worth remembering several of these interesting analogies in order to avoid monotony in your speech and increase its expressiveness.

Note that the word «солонина» can also be used to refer to meat salted for future use.
