During a briefing, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization spoke about Zelensky's statement on the need to take the part of Ukraine controlled by Kyiv under the Alliance's “umbrella”, the NBN publication reports.

The head of NATO believes that Ukraine does not need discussions about what the peace process might look like. The politician noted that the priority now is to provide military assistance to Kyiv so that it can negotiate with Moscow from a position of strength. According to him, the bloc's members will focus on this issue.

Rutte added that the allies can come up with many scenarios for the peace process, but now they need to strengthen Ukraine, because only in this case will it be able to begin a dialogue with the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that Zelensky said in an interview with a foreign media outlet that in order to end the active stage of the war, part of Ukraine needs to be taken under the “umbrella” of the North Atlantic Alliance. Kyiv will be able to return the rest of the country through diplomatic means.

As reported, the president spoke about his expectations from the policy of the administration of the 47th head of the White House, Donald Trump.
