The Forbes analyst writes in his article that the Russian invaders are making significant efforts to occupy Pokrovsk, which remains one of their main obstacles, the NBN publication reports.

According to him, in recent weeks, units of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Russian Armed Forces have managed to advance through the village of Zheltoye to the village of Novopustynka and create a salient in the line of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which allowed them to approach Pokrovsk by 8 km from the south.

Aks explained that Putin's army is not approaching the city from a position of great strength; the occupiers want to encircle and cut it off, and not attack the settlement directly. The analyst believes that the next step of the Russians will be to expand the salient in the line of defense of the Ukrainian forces by capturing the villages of Novotroitskoye and Ukrainka.

The expert notes that it is unclear whether the troops of the aggressor country have enough resources to implement their plan, given that the best units of the Russian Federation are participating in battles in other areas, in particular in the Kursk region, where they are suffering heavy losses.

Aks added that Moscow has also faced serious problems in providing its occupation forces – the reserves of modern Russian equipment are depleted, so the invaders have to use pickup trucks and vans in offensive operations.

The situation in Syria has forced the Kremlin dictator to transfer thousands of Russian Armed Forces fighters to the country's territory, which has put him in an awkward position regarding the offensive on Pokrovsk.

Recall that the former deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named the priorities Putin in the war against Ukraine.
