As NBN reports, citing an article in Aachener Zeitung, despite the fruitless telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, the head of the German government, Olaf Scholz, still does not intend to refuse to hold talks with the Russian dictator.

Based on Scholz’s words, the telephone conversation with Putin was an absolute disappointment, since he only constantly duplicated all his phrases, that is, repeated the usual rhetoric, imposing the Kremlin’s narratives.

However, the chancellor believes that this conversation was necessary to try to convey to Putin that the tyrant cannot hope to reduce/cancel German support for Ukraine, and “that it must also withdraw its troops so that a basis for peace can be established.”

Scholz concluded:

…I'll do it again. But we must have no illusions.

We previously wrote that US intelligence would assess the implications of a potential withdrawal of support for Ukraine by the White House.
