As reported by NBN with reference to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a series of massive strikes by a terrorist state on our country's energy sector is part of a broader campaign and is aimed not only at “freezing” Ukrainians during the winter period.
In particular, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War made certain conclusions based on reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense and the “mouthpieces of the Kremlin”, and, probably, massive strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure imply the achievement of the following goals by Moscow:
- softening the rhetoric of the Russian ultra-nationalist community calling for to retaliate for the Ukrainian attack on the airfield near Taganrog with American long-range ATACMS missiles;
- supporting the Kremlin's reflexive control campaign aimed at forcing Western countries to make a decision to reinstate the ban on the use of long-range weapons provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and to move to peace talks based on the “Istanbul agreements” (which will benefit Moscow exclusively).
