The head of the Italian Defense Ministry, Guido Crosetto, said that Rome is ready to support the West's peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, provided that peace is achieved. The official assured that his country would facilitate this, NBN reports with reference to Ansa.it.

At the same time, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani believes that talk in the West about sending peacekeepers to Ukraine is premature. The diplomat recalled that peace must first be achieved and ensured that it is fair.

It should be noted that the United States and its allies in Europe have recently been talking about the possibility of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine as a security guarantee for the country if the Russian Federation violates the agreements and decides on new aggression.

Newly elected American leader Donald Trump believes that European countries should play a major role in this initiative by sending their peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. At the same time, the Republican does not intend to involve US troops.

Recall that sociologists have found out what Ukrainians consider the best guarantee of security for their country.
