As NBN reports with reference to Radio Liberty sources, French President Emmanuel Macron is ready to bring up for discussion at the summit of EU heads of state (to be held on December 18-19) the issue of deploying a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
Based on the words of a media source, the above discussion is inevitable, given the announced visit of the French president to Poland and the circulation of information in the media space regarding peacekeepers. In addition, the intensification of discussions was provoked by the coming to power of Donald Trump in the United States and the emergence of the need to discuss the crisis situation in Ukraine with the conservative new head of the White House.
Also, two unspecified European diplomats believe that the “peacekeeping” topic is being raised with the aim of preparing for an uncomfortable conversation with Trump, thereby ensuring the participation of the EU in possible peace talks with the Russian Federation.
