During the annual meeting of French ambassadors, the head of state called on Ukraine to hold “real discussions” on territorial issues. In his opinion, only Kyiv can conduct such conversations to resolve the conflict that was caused by the invasion of Russian troops 11 years ago, writes NBN with reference to BFMTV.

At the same time, according to him, the United States should help its allies change the nature of the situation and convince Moscow to sit down at the negotiating table, and Europe should build security guarantees for Ukrainians.

Macron noted that, despite the promises of the newly elected American leader Donald Trump, there will be no quick and easy solution to the Russian-Ukrainian war. The President believes that the 47th head of the White House knows that the United States has no chance of winning anything if the Ukrainians are defeated.

The French leader added that Kyiv's capitulation cannot be good for either the United States or Europe, and that if the West agrees to a “compromise” due to “weariness” from the war, its credibility will be undermined.

Earlier, the media reported that the Kremlin intends to complete negotiations with Ukraine regarding the war by May 9.
