The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, having analyzed photo and video materials from 24 incidents, counted that since the end of August last year, Russian invaders have carried out 79 executions of captured Ukrainian servicemen, writes the NBN publication.

The mission's report said that many captured defenders who surrendered or were in the custody of the occupiers were shot on the spot. Witness accounts also noted that the invaders killed unarmed and wounded soldiers of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Head of the Mission Daniel Bell said that an analysis of the footage of the executions of defenders with geolocations showed that the killings of fighters took place in areas where the troops of the aggressor country were conducting offensives. She added that public figures in the Russian Federation openly called for inhuman treatment and executions of captured Ukrainian army servicemen.

Earlier, the UN Deputy Secretary-General said that last year, 30% more civilians suffered from the aggression of Putin's army in Ukraine than in 2023.
