As reported by “NBN” with a link on the material of “Radio Liberty”, from President Volodymyr Zelensky an explanation was heard – elections in Ukraine will take place only after the end of the “hot” stage of hostilities and the cancellation of the martial law regime.
Based on Zelensky's words, the opposite scenario is impossible, since the defenders will not be able to vote from the trenches, as well as the population of the occupied territories.
In addition, 8 million Ukrainians who left the border of the Russian invasion will also not be able to participate in the process of expressing their will. In particular, only when “the war is over – the active phase is over” will the authorities lift martial law, and “elections will definitely take place.” Kyiv adheres to democratic values, and elections are their fundamental component.
In addition to all of the above, Zelensky added – without providing Ukraine with security guarantees, martial law will remain in effect:
Without security guarantees, this [holding elections] is impossible. It will come. Therefore, these questions require answers.
Earlier we wrote about Kellogg stating that Zelensky is ready to “soften the position” on Ukrainian territories.
