Bloomberg, citing its own sources, reports that European leaders were not aware of the telephone conversation between the head of the White House and the leader of the Russians, the NBN publication reports.
Trump abandoned the policy of his predecessor Joe Biden, according to which nothing should be decided on Ukraine without Kyiv being present at the negotiating table.
The American president also left out US allies in NATO, according to the agency's interlocutor, European leaders did not receive a warning from Washington about the telephone conversations between the head of the White House and the Kremlin dictator.
In comments at the Munich Security Conference, European officials called this “treason.” They fear that the United States is giving in to the key demands of the head of the Russian Federation and is not receiving anything in return.
EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas said that Europe should play a central role in any negotiations on Ukraine. At the same time, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said that any deal concluded without Europe's participation would not be long-term.
Earlier, the media reported that the Chinese authorities wanted to organize a meeting between Trump and Putin, but the United States rejected China's idea.
