Portnikov, on air on his YouTube channel, said that statements about the head of the White House having some incredible economic instruments of influence on the Kremlin dictator are completely untrue.

According to him, one of the few trump cards in the hands of the American leader is military aid to Ukraine, writes the publication “NBN”.

The political analyst explained that Trump can tighten or loosen anti-Russian sanctions. However, three years of full-scale war have made it clear that “the so-called Western sanctions from hell no longer work,” since the United States will not be able to force China and India not to receive oil from Russia.

The journalist specified that this does not mean that the Kremlin cannot be forced to stop aggression against Ukraine using economic instruments. It will be a long way, but the US president wants a quick victory. At the same time, America's geopolitical role will only diminish.

Earlier, Portnikov explained why the White House chief’s strategy for achieving peace in Ukraine is a failure.
