Karol Nawrocki has won the second round of the presidential election in Poland, securing 51.7% of the vote. He defeated the incumbent president Andrzej Duda, who received 48.3%. Nawrocki’s victory came as a result of an unexpected mobilization of voters as well as support from part of the conservative electorate, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

Before running for president, Karol Nawrocki served as Poland’s ombudsman. His candidacy gained popularity among voters due to his clear stance on domestic policy issues, particularly concerning the judiciary and human rights. During his campaign, he emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and maintaining an independent judicial system.

In foreign policy, Nawrocki takes a skeptical position toward further NATO expansion. Specifically, he has publicly opposed Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance. In his view, such a move could provoke further escalation of the conflict with Russia and potentially drag Poland into an unwanted confrontation.

Nevertheless, Nawrocki has repeatedly stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine through humanitarian aid and infrastructure reconstruction. He also stated that Poland must remain a strong partner in ensuring European stability.

Nawrocki is known for his critical stance against the ruling Law and Justice party and its judiciary policies. Thanks to this rhetoric, he managed to mobilize a protest-oriented electorate seeking a return to transparent governance and stronger democratic institutions.

His presidential victory marks a new chapter in Polish politics and reflects a significant shift in public sentiment. According to analysts, the near future is likely to bring a reconfiguration of the country’s political landscape, with a renewed focus on the rule of law, limiting partisan control over the judiciary, and shaping a new foreign policy doctrine.
