The head of Poland Andrzej Duda wrote a letter to the leaders of NATO member states. In his address, the representative of Warsaw called on the Alliance countries to increase defense spending.

The Polish president believes that an increase in defense spending to 3% of GDP by the Alliance member states will become the foundation for strengthening security in the bloc and countering Moscow’s imperial policy, NBN reports with with reference to RP.

According to Duda, NATO members must show courage and uncompromisingness against the backdrop of the fact that the Russian Federation has put its economy on a war footing. The head of state believes that the countries of the bloc must be determined to develop the military-industrial complex and strengthen unity.

The representative of Warsaw said that Poland allocates more than 4% of GDP to the defense sector. Ten years ago, member states of the organization pledged to spend up to 2% of GDP on the armed forces, but today this is no longer enough, and spending needs to be increased to 3% of GDP.
