Agnieszka Holland's humanitarian masterpiece: the film that caused a scandal in Poland will be shown in Ukraine

In March, a true humanitarian masterpiece from Oscar nominee Agnieszka Holland will be released in Ukraine. The film by the Polish director is called “Green Border” and has already become the cause of a political scandal, writes WomanEL.

The feed talks about the humanitarian crisis on the border of Poland and Belarus caused by the Lukashenko regime in 2021. This is a fictional story based on the real facts of the hybrid war between Russia and Belarus against the European Union. The scriptwriters conducted detailed research into the crisis, including interviews with refugees, border guards and activists.

“Green Border” caused a scandal on the eve of the elections in Poland. The film shows the cruelty of both Belarusian and Polish border guards against migrants. The film received a lot of harsh criticism not only from radical politicians. Even President Andrzej Duda and several ministers called for a boycott of the film.

The cinematic community from all over the world came out in defense of the director. “Green Border” was supported by: the Federation of European Film Directors, the Directors Guild of America, the European and Ukrainian Film Academies.

The world premiere took place in the main competition of the Venice International Film Festival 2023, where the film received the Special Jury Prize. The film “Green Border” will be released in Ukrainian on March 21, 2024.
