The Ukrainian educational project STEM is FEM, known for a number of educational modules and the art project “Science is It,” is creating the first STEM ecosystem in Ukraine. It will bring together organizations, people and ideas that collaborate to promote education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, writes WomanEL.
The purpose of the ecosystem is provide equal access to lifelong learning and opportunities in STEM, create a more inclusive and diverse community capable of solving the complex problems of the modern world, note the authors of the idea.
Three communities will be created within the ecosystem:
- The STEM is FEM community is for girls 14-22 years old who will receive an exclusive opportunity to develop their hard and soft skills. Mentoring support from the best representatives of the STEM industry, as well as businesses and the government, employment advice and career offers will also be provided.
- The Alumni STEM is FEM club is for girls over 22 years old who have previously participated in the project’s activities. This community is for those who want to develop their expertise, become mentors for younger participants or build their own brand.
- The STEM is FEM teacher platform is for teachers who teach STEM disciplines and strive to improve their qualifications, deepen their knowledge of digitalization and soft skills, receive mentoring support and the opportunity to communicate directly with government and business representatives.
< p>As the initiator of STEM is FEM Sergey Tokarev notes, during its activity the project has united more than 500 girls interested in science and technology. Participants in the first activities are already building their own careers in STEM industries and this is the best result of the project.
Now we are creating a holistic ecosystem leading girls from school to first work in the chosen field. And this is a new level for Ukraine,
said Sergey Tokarev.
The project invites Ukrainian and foreign experts and mentors who are ready to share knowledge and experience with participants in all three communities. STEM is FEM will also collaborate with educational institutions, business and the government.
