The streaming service Netflix has published a teaser for the series “100 Years of Solitude,” based on the novel of the same name by Gabriel García Márquez, reports WomanEL.
As Deadline writes, the film was the first adaptation of Márquez’s novel, thanks to which he received the Nobel Prize prize for literature. In 2019, it became known that Netflix acquired the rights to a serial adaptation of the novel. It was filmed in Colombia with the support of the writer's family.
This is one of the most ambitious projects in Latin America to date,
said Netflix.
The scriptwriters were Jose Rivera, Natalia Santa, Camilla Bruges, Maria Camila Arias and Albatross Gonzalez. The project was co-directed by Alex Garcia Lopez and Laura Mora. But the sons of Gabriel García Márquez, Rodrigo García and Gonzalo García Barcha are its executive producers.
The plot of the series takes place in the fictional city of Macondo and tells about various events related to the Buendia family, taking place over a hundred years. The series stars Claudio Cataño, Mark Gonzalez, Leonardo Soto, Susanna Morales, Ella Becerra and others.
The original series will have 16 episodes. The exact release date is still unknown, but from the teaser we can conclude that the premiere will take place this year.
