Why doesn't Jamala communicate with her relatives from Crimea?

Ukrainian singer Jamala explained why she avoids communicating with her family in occupied Crimea, noting the importance of safety for them. In an interview with Novosti.LIVE, she said that she is trying to limit contacts with her loved ones remaining on the peninsula due to the risk to their lives and freedom, writes WomanEL.

Rarely, but I communicate. Because, unfortunately, even the authentic Crimean Tatar musicians who participated in the recording, I don’t want to put them in danger. We all understand that Crimea simply leads us in the number of prisoners aged 18-25 years. These are more than 250 prisoners and, unfortunately, they are all Crimean Tatars. This is truly our pain, because there is resistance in Crimea. I try not to irritate or catch you again. Moreover, I myself was arrested by the Russian Federation and put on the wanted list by Interpol. In their opinion, I am an accomplice of terrorism. Therefore, I once again try not to communicate with my relatives,

the star admitted.

The singer noted that in Crimea, many Crimean Tatars were persecuted and imprisoned for their pro-Ukrainian position. Given this, Jamala keeps communication to a minimum so as not to endanger her loved ones. She also mentioned the risks associated with her own status: the artist is detained by Russia and is wanted by Interpol.

By the way, Jamala recently appeared on the cover of People magazine in a national image.
