Vivien Leigh is one of the most famous and beautiful actresses in world cinema, known for her roles in the films “Blown by the Stars,” “Waterloo Bridge,” “Lady Hamilton,” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.” Hollywood is preparing a biopic about the life of the great film star of the 1930s-50s, and WomanEL tells who will play Vivienne.
According to Variety, the main role in the new biographical drama will be played by 52-year-old Carla Gugino. The American actress is known for her numerous works, including comedies, blockbusters, children's and family films and, of course, dramas. The 2019 Saturn Academy Award nominee is remembered for The Space Between Us, Batman v Superman and Mr. Popper's Penguins.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to reveal such a complex, contradictory and fascinating woman as Vivien. From the moment I read the script, I realized that “The Florist” was a journey that I would have to go on, Carla shared.
The film will be called The Florist and will tell the difficult period after career rise of Vivien Leigh. In the 1960s, the two-time Oscar winner struggled with bipolar disorder and had a rocky relationship with florist and World War II veteran Joseph Penn.
The script will be written by Jace Bartok (“Sweet North”). The director will be actor and director Nick Sendow, best known for his role as Joe Caputo in the TV series Orange is the New Black. The film will begin filming in the summer in Philadelphia (USA).
