Transfiguration of the Lord: holy history
In church tradition, the Transfiguration of the Lord is considered the third most important saint after the Holy Day. On this day, go to church for the Divine Liturgy.
Together with the Gospel, the Transfiguration of the Lord took place before the sufferers of Jesus Christ on Golgotha. 40 days before his Resurrection, the Syn of God took the apostles Peter, John and James to the mountain to pray. Jesus prayed, and his disciples fell asleep. Having woken up, the stench began to smell that Jesus had changed – his clothes became white, and his accusations fell.
The prophets Moses and Elijah came to the mountain, and they began to conduct prayer with Jesus. A booming voice from the heavens raptured, saying: “This is the Sin of my love, Whom I have loved. You need to repent.” Then the apostles realized that in Christ two essences were united – the human and the divine. However, Jesus asked his students not to tell about the disease.
The essence of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord is to celebrate the moment when the Savior appeared before the Christians in divine light. Jesus sacrificed himself so that humanity would be freed from sins and would give up eternal life. On this day is it customary to wow this crop and thank God for the new harvest. In churches, apples and grapes are blessed, and from the 6th sickle, Christians are allowed to eat these fruits in their juice.
