A lasting injection: Olga Kharlan won an Olympic medal for Ukraine

Ukrainian shablist Olga Kharlan brought Ukraine the first medal of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Vona held the final match in a special tournament, the fencer earned her last injection, write WomanEL.

Before an hour, the Ukrainian lost to the Koreans 11:4, but was able to win 7 injections afterward. Olga won a fantastic Volova victory in one shot over Choi Soo Yeon from Pivdennoy Korea (15:14), winning the first medal for Ukraine from Paris-2024.

Before this, Harlan in the 1/16 defeated Shihomi Fukushima from Japan, in the 1/8 she defeated the Russian Anna Bashta, and in the quarterfinals she easily defeated the Ukrian Anna Marton. Olzy’s only achievement was given to the top leader of the FIE world ranking, Sarah Balser from France.

For Harlan, this is the third bronze medal after London 2012 and Rio 2016. Olga also has two team Olympic medals – gold from Beijing 2008 and silver from Rio 2016. In addition, Harlan is a Ukrainian friend of Yana Klochkova, who has five Olympic medals.

Paris 32-year-old Olga Harlan has a chance to win another team title. The tournament of women's teams will begin on Saturday 3 September at 14:00 outside Kiev.
