The study found that the phenols bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol F (BPF) inhibited heart signals between the heart chambers in women, especially those with a higher body mass index (BMI). An increase in the QTc interval can lead to irregular heart rhythms.
Phenols are sharp

The authors of the study, published in the journal Environmental Health, confirm that healthy people should not worry about the amount of phenols in their environment. “We were not aware of dramatic changes, but rather quiet changes in the electrical activity of the heart,” said the study’s insightful author, Hong-Sheng Wang, in a press release. “However, the stinks were especially pronounced in the singing subpopulations.” These groups include elderly people who suffer from heart disease or arrhythmia.
