According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the least useful fruit of all energy fruits is white grapefruit. It scored 10.47 points in the agency's rating, while watercress received 100 points.
But that doesn't mean white grapefruit is terrible. It just doesn't have the same nutritional value as some of the other fruits on this list.
“There's absolutely no downside to eating white grapefruit,” says registered dietitian Keri Hans. “Despite being at the bottom of the CDC's nutritional chart, it's still a good source of powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.”
White grapefruit is packed with nutrients, says nutrition expert Jessica Cording. It's especially rich in vitamin C, according to Nutrition Value.
“White grapefruit will still give you a lot of health benefits, just not in the same amount as some other fruits,” says Cording. “That doesn't make white grapefruit bad.”

What other fruits are less healthy?
Formally, fruits are generally considered healthy. But there are a few fruits that rank slightly higher on the CDC's list than white grapefruit. These include:
- Blackberries;
- Pink and red grapefruit;
- Lime;
- Orange.
Again, these fruits are not harmful to your health.It's just that they are less nutritious than some others.
Can I still eat white grapefruit?
If white grapefruit is your favorite fruit, Hans says you can keep eating it. “Any fruit that you enjoy and will eat regularly is a fruit you shouldn't limit,” she says.
If you're looking for other ways to eat white grapefruit , Hans advises to peel it and eat it like an orange, or take out individual parts and throw them in a salad. Cording also advises eating white grapefruit – and any other fruit – along with protein and fat to help keep blood sugar levels stable.
