The American Film Academy has announced the postponement of the date for the announcement of the 2025 Oscar nominees. The reason was the large-scale forest fires that continue to spread in the Los Angeles area, writes WomanEL.
This was reported by CBS News with reference to the official statement of the Academy's CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Young.
We are deeply saddened by the consequences of these devastating fires and believe it is necessary to extend the voting to give the members of the Academy more time, the statement says.
The voting, which began on January 8, will now continue until January 17, and the nominees are scheduled to be announced on January 23. This is the second postponement of the date; it was originally planned to end the voting on January 12 and announce the nominees on the 19th.
The forest fires that broke out in the prestigious Los Angeles area forced the film academy to adapt the schedule. Despite the changes, the 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place as planned on March 2, 2025.
