Many are interested in the topic of apocalyptic stories, there are several reasons why we are drawn to them. It's not just about explosions or zombies, but about something deeper in ourselves, writes Womanel.
first that comes to mind is our fears. There is always something in life that scares us: whether war is or just the idea that everything can not go for plan. Stories about the end of the world are as a safe way to look at these fears on the side.
Just imagine or remember: you sit in a movie theater, eat popcorn, and on the screen a movie where everything is destroyed. You are scary and interesting, but at the same time comfortable, because it is not in reality. Such plots allow us to “live” the worst, without leaving the cozy zone. Psychologists even say that this is a kind of therapy – we seem to be preparing for what can happen, but without real risk, although time is now such a prisoner that you can expect everything in this conscious world. It's hope, though it sounds strange. We look at the surviving characters, struggle, even in chaos, and we think: “Maybe I would be able to.” It inspires, especially when in real life seems that everything is stuck.
