Recovery gardens for the military and people with PTSD: where the establishments will open

Special institutions to help military personnel and people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – recovery gardens – will be established in Ukraine. The idea was proposed by the Danish city planner Mikael Colville-Andersen, says WomanEL.

Such therapeutic gardens are already being installed in many hospitals around the world. This allows patients to be more in nature and improve their psycho-emotional state. As DailyLviv writes, now they will appear in our country. The first project will become part of the components of the Unbroken ecosystem in Lviv.

According to Mikael Colville-Andersen, he wants to create one or two such pilot projects. And also teach professionals, architects from all over Ukraine, how to work with it. The garden uses calming colors, soft textures and flowering plants to promote relaxation, mindfulness and sensory stimulation.

We use garden designs that work with different mental traumas and PTSD – post-traumatic stress disorder, which is the most common problem among Ukrainian society today. I just want this to be in every city of Ukraine,

noted the urbanist.

Colville-Andersen also wants to create such a therapeutic garden in Kyiv on Podol. It will be designed near the Kyiv City Mental Hospital named after Ivan Pavlov on Kirillovskaya Street. Work can begin in two to three weeks.

We previously wrote why PTSD is a problem not only for veterans, but for all Ukrainians.
