The occupiers kidnapped people from their homes or directly from the streets and held them in captivity, using cruel torture on them.

Tortured civilians during the occupation of Kherson: two Russian militants>> The SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office have declared suspicions against two Russian militants who tortured local residents during the occupation of Kherson.</p> <p>This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.</p> <p>According to the case materials, both defendants joined the ranks of the Russian military at the beginning of the full-scale war and served in the 109th Rifle Regiment of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.</p> <p>They took part in the capture of settlements in the Kherson region, in particular in the Berislav district, and were also actively involved in repressions against the civilian population.</p> <p>The perpetrators kidnapped people from their homes or directly from the streets and held them in captivity, using cruel torture on them. One of the cases recorded by investigators occurred in September 2022, when suspects stopped a man in the village of Kalinovskoye, beat him with machine guns, and then left him bleeding on the road.</p> <p>The next day, they robbed his house, after which they took the man to the basement, where they kept him for more than a month, torturing him and demanding cooperation with Russia.</p> <p>Based on the evidence collected, the SBU announced suspicion to the militants under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:</p> <ul> <li>high treason (Part 2 of Article 111),</li> <li>participation in illegal armed formations (Part 2 of Article 260),</li> <li>violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438).</li> </ul> <p>The investigation is ongoing, the SBU, together with the State The Ukrainian border service is conducting comprehensive measures to find and punish criminals.<br /> <!--noindex--></p> <p><a rel=lb.ua
