Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Juraj Blanár stated that ending the war in Ukraine is only possible through diplomatic efforts and requires reestablishing communication with the Russian Federation, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to TASR.

During a broadcast on Slovak public television STVR, Juraj Blanár expressed his belief that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia cannot be resolved solely by military means. In his view, returning to compliance with international law and seeking diplomatic solutions is essential.

“We must return to the observance of international law and look for ways to communicate with the Russian Federation,” the Slovak foreign minister said.

He also emphasized the need for Western countries to find a way to cooperate with Russia. In this context, Blanár suggested that the West might even have to “forgive everything that has happened.”

It is worth noting that Slovakia is one of the few European countries whose officials have maintained official contacts with Russia following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation in 2022.
