Volunteer and former TV host Serhiy Prytula has announced that he has become a father for the fourth time. On August 1st, his wife, Kateryna, gave birth to a son in Kyiv, and they named him Mark, reports Baltimore Chronicle, with reference to Facebook.
In his social media post, the happy father shared the news, emphasizing that Mark was born on the same day Kyiv was mourning the victims of a Russian attack. Serhiy revealed that despite his joy, the pain of loss overshadowed the happiness of his son’s birth: “You can’t fully experience the joy of a newborn when your heart is torn apart by grief.” He added that the loss felt by Ukrainians is shared: “There are no strangers’ children. These are our children, our tears, our common pain.”
Prytula, now a father of two sons and two daughters, stressed that the birth of Mark, like any other child born in Ukraine, symbolizes the resilience and determination of the nation, which continues to exist despite the enemy’s desires for its disappearance. “We will be born despite their wishes for our extinction. We will sing lullabies despite the wailing of air raid sirens,” he stated.
The volunteer thanked his wife for realizing their shared dream and doctors for their care and attention. “I am grateful to the Ukrainian Defense Forces for protecting this new life,” Serhiy concluded.
