Police opened a criminal case against blogger Olena Mandziuk for her statements about violence against Russian-speaking children, citing language incitement.

The police have initiated a criminal case against blogger Olena Mandziuk from Khmelnytskyi following a complaint filed by People’s Deputy Oleksii Honcharenko. Mandziuk announced this on her Instagram page on August 14. According to her, she learned about the investigation through social media. The case is being investigated under Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which addresses the violation of citizens’ equality based on their language, nationality, religious beliefs, or other characteristics. The complaint was submitted by Honcharenko due to Mandziuk’s publications, where she allegedly incited hatred based on language and called for violence against Russian-speaking children. Mandziuk reported this development on her Instagram, according to Baltimore Chronicle, with reference to her post.

In July, Mandziuk posted a message claiming that her children could beat anyone who speaks Russian, and she expressed that she was “toxic” to everything related to Russian culture. After the case was opened, she emphasized that she actively supports the Ukrainian military, engages in volunteer work, and raises her children with Ukrainian values.

Mandziuk believes that the criminal case stems from her strong anti-Russian stance. She also mentioned receiving threats because of her pro-Ukrainian activities, and criticized the Ukrainian government, stating that it seemingly wants to take her children due to their upbringing.

Oleksii Honcharenko responded by clarifying that the case is not about her pro-Ukrainian views, but rather about teaching her children to be violent towards other Ukrainians, especially Russian-speaking children. He emphasized that there is no place for violence based on language in Ukraine. Information about Mandziuk’s case was added to the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations on August 8, 2023, and the investigation is ongoing.

Olena Mandziuk is a 35-year-old blogger, entrepreneur, nutritionist, and volunteer. She actively expresses her pro-Ukrainian views, particularly against Russian-language content. As of August 2025, her Instagram account has over 1 million followers.
