This weekend, Charlotte’s running community is set for a major event: the 2025 Novant Health Charlotte Marathon. More than 11,000 participants are expected to take part in the full marathon, half marathon, and 5K, all starting on Saturday, November 15. The full and half marathons begin at 7:20 a.m. ET, with the 5K starting at 7:35 a.m., reports Baltimore Chronicle.
The full marathon covers 26.2 miles, beginning on South Tryon Street and winding through some of Charlotte’s most prominent streets. Runners will navigate Tryon Street, Fourth Street, Morehead Street, College Street, and South Mint Street, finishing behind Truist Field. The route passes through Uptown and continues into residential neighborhoods before returning to the city center. These areas will experience road closures and increased traffic during the event.
The half marathon, 13.1 miles in length, starts at the same time as the full marathon and shares part of the initial course. Its route includes key roads such as Queens Road East and West, Kings Drive, and the North Davidson Street area. Traffic disruptions are expected along these sections as well.
Road closures and transportation impacts will affect Uptown Charlotte, Myers Park, Dilworth, NoDa, Plaza Midwood, and South End. Residents and commuters are advised to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time on Saturday morning. For spectators, these neighborhoods provide ideal vantage points to cheer on runners.
