Episode 5 of It: Welcome to Derry release date, global timings, Episode 4 events, meteorite shards, and future plans for the series.

The fifth episode of It: Welcome to Derry is approaching its release, revealing key details about streaming schedules, global timings, and the events of Episode 4, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

This new stage of the story deepens the conflict between the military and forces guarding the ancient secrets of Derry. Episode 5 continues the narrative linking the series to Stephen King’s wider universe. Meteorite shards and the Neibolt Street tunnels play a central role in uncovering Pennywise’s origins and limits.

The premiere of Episode 5 is scheduled for Sunday, November 23, streaming on HBO Max at 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET. International viewers will need to watch late at night or stream the following day to avoid spoilers. Global release times are: 10:00 PM in Brazil, 2:00 AM UK, 3:00 AM Central European Time, 4:00 AM Eastern European Time, 6:30 AM India, 11:00 AM Australia, and 1:00 PM New Zealand. UK audiences can watch via Sky Max and NowTV, with a repeat airing at 9:00 PM on Monday, November 24.

Season 1 consists of eight episodes. HBO has not yet confirmed a second season, but director Andy Muschietti revealed a plan for three seasons. The second season will take place in 1935, and the Season 1 finale hints at why the story will move backward in time. The creative team also intends to explore the Macroverse — the ancient dimension connected to It — expanding the mythology beyond the book’s human-centric perspective.

Episode 4 ended with Dick Hallorann using his psychic Shine ability to access the memories of Taniel, a guardian of Pennywise’s secrets. Through a series of doors, each holding a different memory, Dick witnesses Rose teaching Taniel about the Galloo, a being living in the Western Wood. This flashback reveals Indigenous history in Derry and aligns with visions from Stephen King’s original novel.

The Galloo is revealed to be Pennywise, an ancient creature that fell to Earth from another world. Indigenous groups avoided its territory and forged a blade from the meteorite that first trapped it. Later settlers ignored the warnings, and the creature hunted them, growing stronger. Survivors then used thirteen meteorite shards to contain Pennywise in Derry. Indigenous consultants advised the show’s creators in developing this storyline.

Taniel ultimately reveals the location of the meteorite shards, instructing Dick to follow tunnels beneath the old well, leading to the Neibolt Street house and Pennywise’s sewer lair. This disclosure gives the military precise knowledge of Pennywise’s location, raising tension for Episode 5 and setting the stage for forthcoming conflicts.
