Guy Ritchie’s reimagined take on Sherlock Holmes comes to life in the first teaser for Young Sherlock, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a young Holmes, enrolled at Oxford University in 1870, reports Baltimore Chronicle. The eight-episode Prime Video series chronicles Holmes’ earliest adventures, portraying him before he becomes the celebrated detective of Baker Street.
Ritchie directs the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer for the show. The filmmaker previously offered a modernized interpretation of the iconic detective with his 2009 Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Jr. and its 2011 sequel.
According to the official series synopsis, “Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered – when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first case unravels a globe-spanning conspiracy that will shape his future. Set in 1870s Oxford and abroad, the story captures the early exploits of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to become the legendary detective.”
Young Sherlock’s cast includes Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time), Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), Max Irons (Condor), and Colin Firth (The King’s Speech). The series is created for television by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, with executive producers Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson.
The premiere of Young Sherlock is set for March 4, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
