The French club was left without a coach on the eve of the return match 1/16th Europa League final
Marseillesacked Gennaro Gattuso as head coach of the team ahead of the second leg1/16 Europa League finalagainst Shakhtar Donetsk.

Marseille has not yet announced who will lead the team after Gattuso’s dismissal. According to authoritative journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman Jean-Louis Gassée will become the new coach of the “Provencals.”
Note that Gassée was fired from the post of head coach of the Ivory Coast national team after an unimpressive group performance stage at the home African Cup of Nations. He was replaced by Emers Fae, who triumphantly went through the playoffs and led the Ivorians to victory in the tournament.
In the last match under Gattuso, Marseille lost mostly strong> Brest (0:1) in the French Championship.
Currently, the Provencals are in ninth place in the French Championship standings, gaining 30 points after 22 rounds.
The match between Marseille and Shakhtar will take place on Thursday, February 22, at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille. The starting whistle will sound at 22:00 Kyiv time. The team's first match was a draw with a score of 2:2.
