Jean-Louis Gasse took over the French club.

Marseillequickly decided on a replacement for Gennaro Gattuso, whom he fired as head coach before the second leg of the1/16 League final Europeagainst Shakhtar Donetsk.

As reported on the official website of the French club, Jean-Louis Gasse has become the new coach of the “Provencals”.

Details of the contract are not disclosed. According to respected journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano, the 70-year-old French specialist's agreement is valid until the end of the current season.

Gasse's last place of work was the Ivory Coast national team, where he was fired after the defeat against Equatorial Guinea (0:4) in the final match of the group stage at the recent home African Cup of Nations.

Under the leadership of Gasse, the “elephants” barely made it out of the group. He was replaced by Emers Fae, who triumphantly went through the playoffs and led the Ivorians tovictory in the tournament.

In his debut match at the head of the Provencals, Gasse will try to knock Shakhtar out of the League Europe. The match will take place on Thursday, February 22, at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille. The starting whistle will sound at 22:00 Kyiv time.
