Svitolina lost to the first racket of the world and failed to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament in Dubai

Elina failed to cope with Poland's Iga Szwiatek.

The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina failed to reach the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai (UAE).

In the 1/8 finals, the 29-year-old Ukrainian (No. 20 WTA) was defeated by the first racket of the world Polish player Igi Szwiatek.

The match lasted 1 hour 25 minutes and ended with a score of 6:1, 6:4 in favor of the Polish tennis player.

We would like to add that this was the third personal meeting between the tennis players. Twice Svitolina emerged victorious from the matches, once Svitolina triumphed (in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2023).

Note that at the start of this tournament Svitolina defeated another Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina, and then won a landslide victoryover Tatiana Maria from Germany.

Recall that for Elina this was the first tournament after the Australian Open-2024, where she withdrew in the 1/8 finals with tears from the matchagainst Czech Linda Noskova due to a back injury.
