Yuri Vernidub's team became the sole leader of the Ukrainian football championship.
Krivbass won a crushing victory over LNZ in the opening match of the 18th round and throughout the spring part of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) of the 2023/24 season. The match at the Kolos stadium in Kovalevka ended with the score 0:3.
The Krivoy Rog club took the lead at the end of the first half. In the 41st minute, Sergei Shestakov made a handball in his own penalty area. The main referee of the match, Anastasia Romanyuk, after viewing the video replay (VAR), awarded a penalty. Hrvoje Ilic delivered an accurate shot from the 11-meter mark, thus scoring the first goal in the spring part of the UPL.
At the start of the second half of the match, Yuri Vernidub’s team doubled their advantage. In the 53rd minute, Krivbass newcomer Prince Kwabena Adu accurately shot into the far corner from the penalty line.
In the 63rd minute, the Kryvyi Rih team scored devastating, scoring a masterpiece goal. Denis Kuzyk from outside the penalty area extremely impressively hit the far top nine.

After this victory, “Krivbass” (37 points) became the sole leader of the Ukrainian football championship. Vernidub's team is three points ahead of Dnepr-1, which played one match less. LNZ (20 points) occupies 10th position.
In the next round of the domestic championship, Kryvbas will play against Shakhtar on March 3, and LNZ will fight with Polissya on March 1.
