Kostyuk (No. 34 WTA) in the second round of the WTA 500 tournament in San Diego she defeated Australian Tayla Preston (No. 153 WTA), who received a wild card – 6:4, 6:3.
The match lasted 1 hour 33 minutes. Marta served 4 times, made 9 double faults and converted 5 out of 13 break points. This was the first personal meeting of tennis players on the court.
For reaching the semifinals, Kostyuk will play with the winner of the match between “neutral” Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (No. 25 WTA) and Chinese Wang Xinyu (No. 41 WTA).
Kalinina (No. 35 WTA) defeated Colombian Camila Osorio (No. 98 WTA) in the second round of the WTA 250 tournament in Austin – 6:1, 6:2.
The match lasted 1 hour 7 minutes. Angelina served straight once, made 3 double faults and converted 7 out of 10 break points. Now Kalinina leads in personal meetings with a score of 2-0.
For a ticket to the semi-finals, Kalinina will fight with the Frenchwoman Diane Parry (No. 62 WTA).
It was previously reported that another Ukrainian Dayana Yastremskaya (No. 33 WTA) reached the second round of the tournament in San Diego. In the 1/8 finals she will meet with Russian Anna Blinkova (No. 51 WTA), who, due to the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine, is allowed to compete only in a neutral status.
