World Cup champion Paul Pogba banned for four years for doping

World Cup champion Paul Pogba was disqualified for four years for doping

The Frenchman intends to appeal the verdict at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Juventus midfielder and the French national team Paul Pogba received a four-year ban for doping.

According to Tuttosport, this decision was made by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal of Italy, which previously suspended the 30-year-old Frenchman from football pending clarification of the circumstances.

Pogba failed doping -test after the match of the first round of the Italian Serie A against Udinese, which took place on August 20 last year. In October, it became known that the French midfielder’s repeat doping test also showed elevated levels of testosterone in the blood.

It was reported that Paul faces a four-year ban if it is proven that he deliberately used a prohibited drug. As a result, the footballer failed to prove the opposite.

Pogba has already stated that he will appeal his disqualification to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.

Recall that in the summer of 2022, Pogba will be in the status of free agent returned to Juventus after six seasons at Manchester United, which paid the Turin team 105 million euros for the transfer of the Frenchman.

Paul had previously defended the colors of the Bianconeri since 2012 until 2016. In total, the midfielder played 190 matches for the Old Lady, scoring 34 goals and 41 assists.

This season, Pogba spent only 52 minutes on the field in two Serie A matches, in which he was not effective.

The footballer has been playing for the French national team since 2013 and played 91 matches and scored 11 goals. As part of Le Blais, he became the silver medalist of Euro 2016, the winner of the 2018 World Cup, and also won the 2020/21 Nations League.
