Marta failed to cope with the British Katie Boulter in a three-set match.

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk failed to become the winner of the WTA 500 tournament in American San Diego.

21-year-old native of Kiev (No. 34 WTA ) lost to Briton Katie Boulter (No. 49 WTA) in a tense final match.

The fight lasted 2 hours 14 minutes. The Ukrainian won the first set with a score of 7:5, but then lost in the next two games – 2:6, 2:6.

During the match, Kostyuk completed one serve through and made 8 double faults. This was the first personal meeting between tennis players in history.

Note that Marta played in the final of a WTA level tournament for the second time in her career. Last year, she won her debut title at the WTA 250 competition in Austin.

Recall that in the semifinals, Kostyuk defeated the fifth racket of the worldand the first seeded American Jessica Pegula in the semifinals.
