Manchester City defeated Copenhagen for the second time and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League (video)

Pep Guardiola's team will continue defend the title of the current tournament winner.

Manchester Cityconfidently beat Copenhagen in the return match of the 1/8 finals Champions League. The match at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester ended with the score 3:1.

The hosts scored two quick goals. Already in the 5th minute, Manuel Akanji finished off a corner from Julian Alvarez in the center of the penalty area.

In the 9th minute, Alvarez added a goal to his assist. The Argentine struck from a tight angle from outside the penalty area, and visiting goalkeeper Camille Grabara made a blunder and fired the ball into the net.

In the 29th minute, the Danish club reduced the gap – Mohamed Elyounoussi scored.

However, Pep Guardiola's team scored again before the break – on 45+3 minute Erling Haaland took advantage of Rodri's pass to the right flank of the penalty area and accurately fired into the near corner.

No goals were scored in the second half. Consequently, Manchester City, which beat Copenhagen in the first away match also with a score of 3:1, triumphed 6:2 on aggregate and reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Draw 1 /4 and 1/2 finals of the Champions League are scheduled for March 15.

The 2023/24 Champions League final will take place on June 1 at Wembley Stadium in London.
