Svetlana Malkova lost a loved one as a result of another attack by Russian occupiers.
On Thursday, March 21, as a result of Russian missile attack on Nikolaev killed Elena Sivanich – the mother of the leading athlete of the Ukrainian trampoline team Svetlana Malkova.
The tragic news was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
“According to available information, the occupiers carried out an attack with a Kinzhal-type missile in the center of Nikolaev, which exploded between buildings. As a result of the shelling, an industrial enterprise was damaged and six of its workers were injured. Unfortunately, 55-year-old Elena Leonidovna died” , says the message of the NOC of Ukraine on its Facebook page.
Note that Svetlana Malkova is the silver medalist of the 2019 European Games, the bronze medalist of the 2018 European Championship in synchronized trampolining.
Now the athlete as a member of the Ukrainian national trampolining team was supposed to start competitions at the World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, on March 22. The competition is licensed for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
It was previously reported that the champion of Ukraine and medalist of the European Youth Rowing Championship Dmitry Gubanov died in the war against Russia.
