Savo Milosevic took full responsibility for the failure in the match against national team of Ukraine.
The head coach of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina Savo Milosevic commented on the defeat from the Ukrainian team in the semi-final match of the play-off qualifying for Euro 2024 strong>.
The match at the Bilino Pole stadium in the Bosnian city of Zenica ended with the score 1:2 in favor of the Ukrainians. Sergei Rebrov's team was losing 0:1, but made a comeback and snatched a ticket to the playoff finals for access to the continental championship.
“I don’t know about you or the fans, but personally I have no complaints about the players of our team. I don’t have the slightest reason to complain about the actions of any of them. I think we completely neutralized a serious team until the 80-85th minute game. In this segment of the match, Ukraine remained practically without a single hit.
After this there was confusion. In some places this was due to substitutions, in others it was due to a decrease in concentration levels. We conceded two goals on counterattacks during the period when we were leading and controlling the match.
We played against a serious team, but I am sorry that we lost. I can’t blame the guys for anything – we can only talk about my fault and my responsibility.
On the field, we were, if not a better, then a more experienced team than our opponents. But we could have played a little smarter in the last 10 minutes of the match. The guys stuck to the game plan until the 85th minute. After that, most experienced teams would hold back the game much more and use non-football techniques to preserve the result.
We conceded two goals for the same reason. Serious teams in such situations “dry” the game and create many pauses in it. However, we didn't do this. We continued to play as we had from the first minute. We had a chance to make the score 2:0 before the first goal, but, unfortunately, we missed this opportunity,” Dynamo.kiev.ua quotes Milosevic as saying.
In the final of the playoff qualifying for the Euro- 2024 “blue-yellow” will compete for a ticket to the European Championship with Iceland, which in the other semi-final defeated Israel (4:1).
The match between Ukraine and Iceland will take place on Tuesday, March 26 , at the Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw stadium in Wroclaw, Poland. The starting whistle will sound at 21:45 Kyiv time.
