"Blue and Yellow" defeated their peers from Latvia and came close to qualifying for the continental championship.

The Ukrainian youth team(U-19)defeated the Latvian team in the second match of the elite round of qualifying for Euro 2024. The match in Skopje ended with the score 3:0.

Dmitry Mikhailenko's team took the lead in the 34th minute of the match thanks to a goal by Dynamo Kiev striker Matvey Ponomarenko.

After the break, the “blue-yellows” developed their advantage – in the 60th minute, Ponomarenko scored a double, converting a penalty.

For the Ukrainians, this is the second victory in a row in the elite round selection for Euro 2024. In the opening match, our team beat our peers from North Macedonia (2:0).

Before the final round, the Ukrainian team is leading its group with 6 points, ahead of Switzerland in additional indicators. The Latvians and Macedonians have not yet scored any qualifying points.

To qualify for the continental championship, the Ukrainians must take first place in their group. The decisive match of the third round between Ukraine and Switzerland will take place on Tuesday, March 26.

Recall that the winners of the elite round groups will join the host, Northern Ireland, in the final stage, which will take place on July 15-28, 2024 and will become selection from UEFA for the 2025 World Cup (U-20).
